We find the unforgettable in Carinthia: The cultures of three countries – Austria, Slovenia, and Italy – blend together on the southern side of the Alps in Austria’s southernmost state into a greater Mediterranean whole. This is palpable, perceptible, and ready to be experienced through the southern temperament, the delectable, inspired culinary creations, and the mild, sunny climate that heralds the summer as early as spring and remains true into late autumn.
The proximity to the lake satisfies us with inner contentment. The idyllic harbour town of Muggia is just a stone’s throw from Pörtschach am Wörthersee. The same is true of the port city of Trieste, which is characterised by its royal and imperial flair, or the enchanting Duino, which invites us to hike over the lake cliffs in the direction of Sistiana, following in the footsteps of Rainer Maria Rilke. But we cannot pass by the charming vineyard paradise of Collio, nor the Slovenian wine-growing district of Goriška Brda, which is called Slovenia’s Feinkosteck.
Take advantage of Carinthia’s proximity to bordering Italy and Slovenia.
